“Computer, begin”
The slim, tanned, computer generated human began to move while holding two rattan sticks in his hands. K’Rah’san had two of his own which he kept in an open ready position for the practice match. The sparring partner moved in, starting to swing the stick with his right hand then left in a diagonal fashion. K’Rah’san moved to allow the stick in each hand to meet in the middle, making sure to keep the proper distance.
“Right, six count open it is”
K’rah’san started to move around in a circle then forward and backward with the sparring partner, testing different positions while he worked on the drill. He may have been lighter on his feet and a bit faster, but the computer made sure to have the partner respond in kind to keep up and test his limits.
The room he had picked out was large enough to offer enough sparring space to move around and not bump into walls, sparring equipment or even practice weapons that leaned against one side. The floor was padded enough to allow one to fall without giving injury while allowing the ability to move and walk across it without much interference. A large blue towel was folded on a nearby bench next to a communicator, a tall water bottle and a PADD.
“Alright, lets move on to single hand”
K’Rah’san shouted after a good amount of time had passed. He moved to the wall where his bo staff was then placed once of his sticks next to it so he can continue. His partner was already holding one stick as if the second one he was using mysteriously vanished into thin air.
“Begin”
K’Rah’san stepped forward once more, this time using his stick like a sword to practice his attacks, parry, blocks and movements. The sounds of wood striking on wood and heavy breathing would fill his ears, testing his ability to focus on the task at hand.
“Well, the doctor did say to get more exercise and I can’t think of a better way to…”
The train of thought would disappear once the PADD started to make sounds. K’Rah’san turned towards it for a moment out of curiosity before quickly moving his stick up to parry a strike that would have hit him on the side. Had his attention been fully committed, he would have been able to take the opening that the computer gave him for a disarm.
“Computer, pause match”
The simulated opponent lowered his stick then stopped, giving K’Rah’san a chance to move to the bench. He reached over, grabbing the towel and tossing it around his neck before turning his attention to the PADD. He reached out to grab the water bottle and flicked it open with an audible click then brought it up to take a long sip of the liquid.
K’Rah’san glanced over the PADD for a moment then reached over to pick it up and flick through it to read the incoming message. K’Rah’san stared at the message as if the letters were going to pop right out of the screen and explain everything in a soothing voice. Unfortunately, it left him with the urge to return to his room to find out more.
“Computer, end program”
