- DS9 - Quark's bar -

Mac was intrigued more and more by Donovan Steele, he could not only send her thoughts but hear her own sent thoughts. Usually when someone that wasn't an Isisean tried it, they were unintentionally loud but his thought voice was at a normal tone almost on the same wavelength as another Isisean. She was impressed, curious and surprised that he seemed to be interested in her. Most often guys went out of their way to go after taller women, but Donovan Steele didn't appear to mind her petite stature. Mackenzie grinned cheekily at him as they entered the bar. It was pretty well full but there was still room for more to either sit at the bar or at one of the tables.

Making their way to a table that was near the back of bar, Steele was lost for a moment in thoughts of other patrons of the bar. Thoughts of lust and devious adventures, thoughts of business deals and business scams flooded the room, but Steele was able to filter them out to focus on Mac.

~~ Is this table okay? ~~ Donovan thought to Mac since he knew now she could pick up his thoughts.

Mac nodded her head softly, ~~ It's fine, not too close to the dabo table to be a distraction and just far enough from the bar and door to not get caught tripping over others as they move around. ~~ "So what are you going to order from Quark's over priced selection?" She asked him aloud.

"I will likely get the Bajoran medley which has a sample of all the popular Bajoran entrees and it does not cost too much but you do get all the filler that comes with the individual entrees. Then we can have some dessert if you would like." Steele replied.

Mackenzie laughed softly and then gave him a playful cheeky smile showing off her dimples, "Dinner to share and dessert, are you always this charming?" She asked lightly but she was genuinely curious, she wasn't used to such behavior but then she also wasn't used to being able to speak with folks telepathically so easily and clearly. Today was definitely a very pleasant day of firsts.

"I could tell from your thoughts that you would enjoy sharing off the same plate and since it is the best option that Quark has on the menu, it made the logical choice for our first meal together." Steele replied. He knew he was typically not a very romantic guy to begin with but something about this woman made him feel things he enjoyed feeling. "Dessert could be anything you like."

Mac laughed softly, "How do you feel about cheesecake? Or are you more of a more traditional pie type?" She asked lightly showing off a playful grin as she wondered about him and how he as able to so easily hear or send thoughts her way, she had never had such an easy connection with someone before. It was very curious intriguing and strangely enough she was completely at ease with him.

"I am a key lime pie, guy and while it is called a pie it is a cheesecake at the core. But I do enjoy both pies and cheesecakes." Steele replied while finding his mind started to bring him images from Mac's mind.

Mac laughed softly, "I like banana cream pie more than banana cream Cheesecake, apple pie and blueberry pie or lemon meringue are my next favorites. There only one cheesecake I didn't like it was a bacon maple syrup one but the bacon was burnt and it ruined the rest of it in my opinion."

"Never had banana cheesecake, but the bacon maple cheesecake sound delicious." Steele said with a witty grin on his face.

Mac smiled, "When it's not burnt it is quite an experience. It doesn't usually have very much bacon but there's a decent amount of maple syrup swirled into and on top of the cheesecake." She said lightly as their meal arrived.

By the time they had ordered dessert, Mac was relaxed, comfortable and still intrigued by Donovan Steele. He was witty, and so much more.

Donovan was enjoying the attention he was getting from Mac as he was not used to having feelings for a woman, nor even getting one to willingly talk to him nor enjoy his company for more than a minute. He was actually opening up more than he ever had before even to his own family.

"Well, this was a very enjoyable and different sort of day." Steele stated. "Please don't take any offense to that statement, I have never really had personal conversation with anyone especially an attractive woman like you. Most of my past conversations would be limited to just the exchanges between me and my supervisor or the such."
