En Route to Bajor System.
My time on Cardassia Prime has come to an end. I have mixed emotions. The assignment was as close to torture as could be. I'm not a diplomat, a peacemaker. I don't even like many people to be honest. The good thing was, I was able to connect with my Cardassian family, my maternal Grandfather and his family. He seems like a good man, he treated me like what I always thought a family was supposed to be like. My some of my uncles and cousins...well lets just say time will tell.
Cardassia itself is still in shambles. Oh sure, the cities are rebuilt, but the loss of billions at the hands of the Dominion will take decades to replace. The streets felt so empty, empty and sad. It reminds me of Bajor during the Occupation. The Central Command's complete control over Cardassian society for over three hundred years left an enormous vacuum when it fell. The civilian government is trying its best, but Federation style democracy is a foreign concept to most species, and the Cardassians are no exception.
I have been ordered to Deep Space Nine, pending new orders. It will be my first time back in the Bajor system since I was a child. It brings back a menagerie of memories, some good, most bad. I doubt I will make it down to the planet this trip...I just don't think I can deal with that right now. I'm looking foreward to my new assignment. I don't know what Starfleet has in store for me now, but I hope its a deep space posting. There is so much space to explore, and so many things to discover.
Computer, end Log.
