Personal History | Xenex is a mostly desert planet that, at the time of Dyllon's childhood, was under the control of the Danteri. The Xenexians were used as a slave force for the empire, and living conditions were rough. Dyllon was born with the name of M'k'm'han in 2336, in the small town of Dy'lon (Dyllon McMahon is his Anglicized name, as certain sounds in the Xenexian language are hard for many to speak). He never knew his parents, but spent his early days in a "work house." At the age of 7, he was caught stealing extra rations, and per the law of the Danteri, his hands were removed by laser scalpel, and was cast out of the work house. He spent the next few years living on the streets as a beggar. At the age of 9, a foreign aide worker took pity on him, and fitted him with a set of simple prosthetic hands. Over the years, he developed a knack for mechanics, having to perform maintenance and repairs on his hands. He eventually fell into a group of petty criminals, assisting them with bypassing Danteri security systems and hot-wiring Danteri flyers. Eventually, at the age of 15, he found himself working in the city of Calhoun. It was during this time that a young man, M'k'n'zy of Calhoun began a rebellion against the Danteri. Dyllon joined the rebellion as a mechanic, assisting in keeping flyers repaired and even helping to hijack Danteri assets. At the age of 17, the war had been won, at great cost. Dyllon had the ability to become a prominent member of the new Xenexian government, but longed to leave the planet. At the age of 18, he signed on as a mechanic on a merchant vessel. At the age of 22, he found himself before a Federation court as an accessory to smuggling contraband across the Romulan Neutral Zone. Seeing potential in Dyllon, the magistrate offered a plea deal - the magistrate would forgo sentencing and sponsor Dyllon's entrance into Starfleet Academy. At the age of 37 (2374), Dyllon was assigned to his first command, the USS Challenger, a Saber Class destroyer, which was assigned to the 10th Fleet. In 2375, with the beginning of the Dominion War, a major push was made against the core worlds of the Federation. As the 10th Fleet was on a training exercise, the Challenger was part of the squadron left behind to patrol the area. As the Dominion forces invaded Betazed, the Challenger fought and was ultimately disabled, and left for dead. Betazed had fallen before the 10th Fleet was able to stop the Dominion's advance. However, the Challenger was trapped behind enemy lines, badly damaged. The Challenger spent the next year behind enemy lines, out of contact with Starfleet, harassing the Dominion forces. Disrupting supply lines, offering assistance to the Betazoids as they could, Dyllon and his crew would become known to the people of the Betazoid rebellion as the "Angels of Betazed." However, to the Jem'Hadar, they became known as the "Butchers of Betazed." After Betazed was liberated in 2375, followed shortly by the defeat of the Dominion, the Challenger returned home to the Sol System. The crew of the Challenger was received as heroes in the Federation media. The ship, however, was decommissioned. Dyllon sought immediate re-assignment to another command, but was denied. Starfleet, eager to rebuild after the war, awarded Dyllon and his crew Medals of Honor, and used their story for recruitment. All were assigned to "safe" jobs, including Dyllon, who was assigned to Starfleet Academy. |
